Chief Operating Officer

Reports to: CEO
Office location:  Oslo, Norway or Sollentuna (Stockholm), Sweden

We are looking for an experienced high potential Chief Operating Officer - (COO) to oversee the organization’s ongoing operations and procedures. You will be the company’s second-in-command and responsible for the performance and efficiency of the business. You will step in for the CEO / take over CEO tasks when needed.

The COO has a central role and is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). You will have to maintain control of and manage diverse business operations, which means it is expected that you are an experienced and professional leader. If you also have excellent people skills, business acumen (i.e. sales and marketing competence) and exemplary work ethics, we would like to meet you.

The main purpose of the COO position is to secure the operational functionality and quality of business and – through the commercial team – to drive extensive and sustainable growth.

Main responsibilities and tasks

  • Focus on sales and commercial activities, and deliver on the growth strategy
  • Responsible for achieving comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Maintain core values and introduce new approaches by establishing policies that promote the company culture and vision
  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance
  • Assist CEO in fundraising ventures
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors

Competencies and experience

  • Proven top management experience as COO/CEO or a relevant role, preferably with experience from a growth company
  • Business and financial savvy oriented, analytical and operational
  • Commercial background with experience from sales, service, logistics, and with understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance and Marketing
  • Understand price management as a tool for creating volume growth, combined with profitability
  • Demonstrable competency in and experience from strategic planning and business development
  • Understand and have perspective of the value chain as well as its components
  • Experience in fundraising is a plus, or experience from a portfolio company in a private equity fund
  • Negotiation experience involving public sector is an advantage, combined with building long term relationships in the sector
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
  • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure

  • The ideal candidate has higher education (preferably Master´s degree) and at least 5 years of relevant working experience from a fast growing

  • Ability to quickly gain credibility with key teams and sectors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a Scandinavian language as well as in English
